We read a lot of blogs. It makes sense, of course, considering we’re bloggers ourselves, but even if we didn’t have our own blog, we’d be avid blog readers. That’s because blogs are, in our opinion, the best source of up-to-the-minute news and trends that shape our crazy, fast-paced food and beverage marketing world.
In other words, if you’re a food and beverage marketer and you’re not also reading a lot of blogs, you’re missing out on some good intel. If you’re a little behind on your blog reading, or even if you’re a regular reader like us, we’d like to point you in the direction of a few of our favorite blogs in a new recurring entry we call “Blogs We Devour.” Enjoy!
ADFREAK – Marketers of any product – food, beverage, clothing, cars – should include this blog on their daily reading list. It comes from the folks at ADWEEK, and offers four or five new posts each day that provide a snapshot of some of the best (and worst) efforts by today’s marketers.
EATOCRACY – If it’s consumer eating and drinking habits you’re after, CNN’s Eatocracy will deliver them. We especially like the topical navigation at the top of the page, which allows you to sort the frequently updated content by categories including “news,” “bite,” “sip,” and “buzz.”
GASTROFOTONOMIA – We should warn you about this blog dedicated to food photography: DO NOT read it on an empty stomach! The site isn’t updated very often, but when it is, it’ll have you drooling on your keyboard with its ability to make seemingly ordinary food – like an heirloom tomato or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (seen above) – look amazing.
MARKETING LESSON: Take a few minutes each day to read what these wise bloggers are saying. You just might learn something!
